Question
My 8x8 equipment sits behind our firewall/router and we are experiencing voice quality and reliability issues. Is there anything we can do?
Answer
If your 8x8 IP Phone, adapter, or Softalk is located behind a firewall/router and you are experiencing voice quality or reliability issues, please check if the firewall/router has "QoS" or Quality of Service settings.Ports used by 8x8 IP Phone and 8x8 Softalk The following ports are needed for incoming and outgoing Internet communications from and to 8x8 devices and servers. For IP Phone and Softalk QoS Settings: - UDP port 5199 for signaling
- UDP port 3479 for media
- UDP port 5060 as well just in case it cannot resolve using SRV
For Softalk add this TCP port setting - Open port 8880 and port 16000 for TCP login authentication.
For Fanstel ST2118 Telephone and BPA410 or BPA430 adapter. QoS Settings: - UDP port 15044 for signaling and media
All the above ports should be set high priority and use IP address Any:Any for these settings. Subnets for all VO services: 8.5.248.0/24, 63.209.12.0/24, 192.84.16.0/24 If any of these ports are blocked, you may experience one way or no audio.
